1. My name is Jenny. I learn about this world best from reading, listening to, and writing stories.
2. I am married to Ben who enjoys transforming vintage suitcases into synthesizers. You can hear said synth here.
3. We have two kids and I often call each of them Bunny. It's never confusing.
4. I've referred to beings I love as "Bunny" since my first cat. RIP the Bunnycat.
5. Many things make my brain jive:
- Any kind of garden is my happy place: community garden, public garden, pollinator garden, cut flower garden, herb garden, garden store, overgrown gardens, wildflower gardens, cottage gardens, kindergarten, conservatory garden.
- Wendy Brightbill is my color counsel.
- Loyola College radio keeps my car rides spontaneously beautiful. (Unless Car Talk podcasts are on demand by the youth riding in the backseat, in which the car ride becomes funny).
- Vignettes made by toddlers at play are an underrated form of sculpture. I will never stop photographing them.
- Walking to our local bakery is a gift that I never take for granted. I know every spring-blooming flower and tree in the neighborhood. Magnolia week is always a favorite.
- Being in nature with my people is my truest happy place.
6. I hope to live by the ocean one day. I am campaigning for everyone I love to come with me. My niece is on board so far. We will all live in a meadow that overlooks the water just like the Lupine Lady. Is this how communes get started?
7. My day job includes admiring & maximizing the neurological connections of children through creative play, movement, & art. When I am lucky, this includes drawing solar systems and black holes (per popular request) or crawling across obstacle courses and pretending to be a potato.
8. I homeschool my kids when I am not working with the previously mentioned school children. I love nerding out and exploring alongside them. We never have fewer than 100 books checked out from the library, and were so grateful when the city decided to do away with library fines. We read a lot of fairy tales per the alleged advice of Albert Einstein. "Living books" are our favorite textbooks. Again, it always goes back to storytelling.
